  17. <p>     JESSE JACKSON may have taken himself out of the 1992
  18. presidential race, but he's still a spoiler. As the early
  19. campaign takes shape, Jackson is clinging tenaciously to his
  20. bargaining power. He has told his political cadre to remain
  21. uncommitted and to forget about shifting support to any of the
  22. active candidates, most notably DOUG WILDER. When the Virginia
  23. Governor approaches African-American activists for help, many
  24. have said, "Jesse told us to hold off." Wilder has managed to
  25. lure a few seasoned Jackson advisers into his camp, along with
  26. some low-level organizers and contributors. But he is still too
  27. much of a long shot to snag them all. And other Democratic
  28. candidates are prowling the same ground.
